Loch Ness Monster: First Sighting of 2026 Captured on Webcam?

The legend of the Loch Ness Monster lives on.

On the evening of Thursday, March 5, 2026, a new sighting reportedly emerged from the depths of Scotland’s iconic waters. A webcam user captured what some believe to be the elusive creature, rekindling fascination with Nessie.

Eoin O’Faodhagain, a dedicated Loch Ness observer - and from an American point of view - the most Irish named man ever, recorded the footage while watching a live feed from Visit Inverness Loch Ness located at the Clansman Hotel.

“Black object rises and sinks four times against the current, captured on VILN Clansman Webcam at 17.20pm on 05/03/2026.

There were calm conditions with a slight ripple current moving north, object moving south,” O’Faodhagain described on YouTube.

This is not O’Faodhagain’s first encounter with the mysterious loch. Over the past three years, he has documented more than two dozen alleged Nessie appearances. Last October, he captured a 17-foot-long anomaly moving through the water, describing the spectacle as “very strange and fascinating.”

In August 2025, another sighting appeared on the same Clansman Hotel webcam. O’Faodhagain recalled to The Inverness Courier: “I first noticed a large disturbance in the water on the right-hand side of the screen, more than halfway across the loch. Then two humps partially emerged from the water, then submerged, then a large single hump appeared, then the webcam rotated.”

Skeptics, however, remain unconvinced. Adrian Shine, a semi-retired researcher from the Loch Ness Project with 52 years of experience, believes these sightings are illusions created by the loch’s deep Caledonian Canal. “The sightings are caused by ship wakes. Here they develop this multi-humped form, and that’s what people often see,” Shine told The Sun.

Whether you’re a believer or a skeptic, the legend of Nessie continues to captivate imaginations worldwide. One thing is certain: every ripple in Loch Ness sparks curiosity, speculation, and a little bit of wonder.
